Why do children need Chiropractic?

With the stresses that adults endure everyday, it would be foolish to think that our children are immune from such stress. Physical stress such as falls, jolts, tumbles and accidents are but a few of the ways children acquire vertebral subluxation.

Parents often ask if chiropractic is beneficial for children. The answer is most definitely "Yes!" Whether addressing a specific health related problem or looking to increase the child's overall health, chiropractic plays a leading role when it comes to working with your child's health.

Instead of treating only your child's symptoms, a chiropractor constantly strives to find the cause of the problem by assessing the nervous system, the body's master control. Because the nervous system maintains and controls all functions of the body, it makes sense to keep your child's nervous system as healthy as possible to reach the maximum health potential. Left uncorrected, many of the spinal traumas experienced by children become the more difficult-to-correct problems seen later in adults. Chiropractic also works well in conjunction with other therapies, in order to give your child the best care possible.

Expecting mothers need Chiropractic!!

With pregnancy come hormonal changes, a shift in body weight, and laxity of connective tissues. New stresses are experienced by the lower back and pelvis. Many women report that their pregnancies were easier and their delivery times shorter when they received regular chiropractic care.

Even today's birthing procedures can put tremendous pressures on a child's spine. While the injuries may be less common today, eager hands can do even more damage by pulling, forcing and twisting the baby's young spine.

Without the language to explain, many newborns experience colic, unexplained crying, lack of appetite, frequent ear infections or other signs of poor health. A chiropractic examination is essential to determine if birth trauma to the spine is involved. However, babies born by caesarian section are not immune to spinal trauma.

If indicated, a gentle adjustment is given. With no more pressure than you would use to test the ripeness of a tomato, nerve-compromising subluxations can be reduced. Almost miraculously, many parents see instant improvements in the well-being of their child.

If the mother is able, chiropractors are vocal supporters of breast feeding. This form of nutrition perfectly matches your child's nutritional needs, and is proven to bolster their immune system.

If you are struggling with your baby's ability to latch, pediatric chiropractors are able to assess your baby's alignment to determine whether a series of adjustments may help. Consulting a lactation specialist is also a valuable option.
