Animals need Chiropractic too!!
Dr. Wolverton is an animal chiropractitioner utilizing VOM
What is VOM?
Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation is a healing technology that locates areas of the animal's nervous system that have fallen out of communication. Healing is induced by re-establishing communication.
VOM exists in between veterinary medicine and chiropractic care. It has similarities to some of the chiropractic modalities, and works to restore function by reducing "subluxations" as in chiropractic care. It uses a hand-held device that is similar to the device used in a popular chiropractic technique called "Activator Methods", but is not to be confused with that technique. The differences between VOM and chiropractic are significant and distinct. Although similar, the neurology of animals is still different from that of humans!
Why is VOM so accurate?
VOM finds and reduces all neuronal subluxations. All neuronal subluxations in animals have a pathological reflex associated with them. The reflex is like a "knee-jerk response." It is either there, or not. It is an objective means to determine the presence and reduction of neuronal subluxations.
How it works...
All chiropractic modalities have one thing in common; they reduce the vertebral subluxation complex by providing motion or force to the fixated or subluxated joint.
VOM Adjusting Device

VOM delivers its force with a hand-held device called a spinal accelerometer to the joint mechanoreceptors. Don't let its size fool you! It is very specific and powerful. The force can be adjusted from a parakeet to a horse!
How can the adjusting device work better than using your hands to adjust animals?
Our hands are too slow. The fastest that an excellent veterinary chiropractor under optimum conditions and with patient cooperation is 80 milliseconds. The animal's natural reflexive resistance to adjustment is 20 milliseconds, or four times faster. The device fires at a rate of 2-4 milliseconds. This is 5-10 times faster than the animal's ability to resist the adjustment. Think of it this way, when was the last time you were able to tell an animal in pain to relax? Especially when you are manipulating areas that hurt!
